FALL 2012

FALL 2012 TRENDS

The Luxe of Leather

Leather has never ever looked so good.  If there is just one must-have for the season, it has to be leather, whether a full-on trouser, a thigh-high slit skirt, leggings, a shirt, or a powerful sheath dress.  Key pieces from dresses to biker jackets get a new spin in versatile leather.  Wear it for day, night and everything in between.  Of course black rules, but we love leathers in Bordeaux, navy, deep green, and caramel too.
Leather is not just for bags.  While dressing in leather from head to toe is not advised, there is a way to chicly add this trend to your closet.  Match a leather skirt with a pale blouse for a fun yet feminine look or a simple black turtleneck.  A short leather dress paired with tights and booties or stilettos can take you from day to night.  Leather pants/leggings paired with a blowing top and blazer or slouchy sweater combines texture and style.  A leather tee with your favorite pants puts a modern twist on your basic black pants.

Gold Standard

Every season, the winds of fashion seem to favor one metal above the rest, and this fall it’s pure gold that shines the brightest.  Gold is the warmest and most eternal of the precious metals.  It is at its most winning as a shoe or handbag.  Ultra-Shine is the freshest, but stay alert of old gold, antique and bright gold too.

Hot New Hue

Burgundy is this fall’s “IT”color.  Vamp up your closet with the color of the season.  Wine, Bordeaux, and Oxblood take center stage as red goes sexier and more sophisticated.  This color alone sets the tone for a dark and mysterious trend alert.  The deep burgundy color has been highlighted on top designer runways throughout Fashion Week.  Wine is one of the most flattering shades of red.  The purple undertones make it very wearable.  Saturate yourself in the seductive color.  Easily add this color to your wardrobe through shoes, a handbag, or even lipstick.

Peplum

Every season, there are a few trends that define the moment.  Designers from New York to London to Milan to Paris were pulled in by the shapely, flirty peplum!  It’s dramatic and flatters that all important waist-to-hip-ratio.
